It's Mutual: Basilica Hudson

Basilica Hudson is a nonprofit multidisciplinary arts center located in a reclaimed, solar-powered, 19th-century industrial factory on the Hudson River in Hudson, New York. Each season, Basilica Hudson welcomes more than 20,000 visitors to eclectic music festivals, large-scale marketplaces, regular film screenings, an artist-in-residency program, public installations, and other community gatherings. The majority of its programs are free or sliding scale.

On October 23, 2021, Basilica Hudson will present Basilica SoundBath: A Belated 10-year Anniversary Fundraiser & Performance. It’s an immersive, intimate evening with sound artists Circuit des Yeux (solo), Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, and Samer Ghadry, presented in collaboration with The Creative Independent. Embracing the organization’s commitment to experiential exchanges during the past 10 years, Basilica SoundBath draws curatorial inspiration from Basilica Hudson’s two anchor music festivals, 24-HOUR DRONE and Basilica SoundScape, featuring alumni from both events. These artists push the boundaries of endurance listening, experimentation, and genre, taking the audience on a journey through sound that is both meditative and visceral.

With large-scale in-person programming delayed due to COVID-19 — Basilica Hudson’s 10-year anniversary was in 2020 —  this belated anniversary celebration is an opportunity to reflect on Basilica Hudson’s future and past as a temple of sound, a communal gathering place, and a leader in environmental advocacy through the arts.
